Now for the fun bit, and, please do not begin this step on Pinterest (more on my thoughts on Pinterest later). Find blogs you love, are you pulled to Style Me Pretty, Hello May or TheLANE? Find 3-5 blogs that fit within your values and begin compiling images. Don’t be afraid to look beyond the typical wedding blog, there are plenty of inspirational imagery on photography and lifestyle blogs. Collect magazines too, once again it doesn’t matter if they are specifically wedding related or not.
This step begins giving a visual identity to your personality as a couple. It doesn’t have to be perfect and it doesn’t have to look finished, this collecting stage is about gathering everything you like and putting it all in one place.
Spend a week or so trolling through blogs, websites and magazines. Collect fabric textures and paint swatches to find colour combos you like. Look through books, be it about architecture or painting or gardens. Go to a gallery; take snaps at your favourite restaurant or cafe. Collect, absorb and enjoy this process; get out of the “wedding” box and find out what turns your head visually.
Don’t miss the next post in this series.
